Today Luke Gosling, the Federal Member for Solomon, officially opened the Early Years Hub at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Karama.

This hub comprises three classroom and a community space, including a wet area and outdoor undercover area.

The classrooms will facilitate a smoother transition from Preschool into Primary School, and to allow better collaboration between classes and teachers.

Mr Gosling said work on the development project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $384,615 through the Capital Grants Program.

“Our Territory students deserve the best learning environments we can offer – they’re our next generation of leaders,” Mr Gosling said.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at Holy Family with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach, and learn.

“It’s my hope that this improved learning environment will inspire the students to do the best they can and go on to become anything they want – doctors, plumbers, engineers, business owners, or indeed teachers.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those at Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Karama, get the best possible education.”

Mr Gosling said a lot of work had gone into the project to deliver the refurbishment of general learning areas at the school.

Mr Gosling said the new facilities would benefit current and future generations of students.

“The teachers, staff and students at Holy Family Catholic Primary School have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance local educational opportunities,” Mr Gosling said.

“The Albanese Labor Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”

The Federal Government is investing $800 million on similar facilities around Australia over the next four years.
