Media Release - Funding to support Top End Defence families

12 July 2022

Minister for Defence Personnel, The Hon Matt Keogh MP, this week announced $2 million in grants through the Family Support Funding Program (FSFP) to 48 community based organisations to provide support to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their families Australia wide.

Four community organisations in the Northern Territory were awarded a grant through the FSFP to support Defence families.

Minister for Defence Personnel Matt Keogh MP said community organisations provide an important link between ADF personnel, their families and their local communities.

“Partnering with these organisations is important in supporting Defence families. The funding will support the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of the whole family when posted to this region,” Minister Keogh said.

“For many, Defence is a way of life which involves the whole family.

“When people put their hands up to protect our nation, we must ensure their family is looked after and these programs will go a long way towards supporting Defence children.

“These grants are an important funding resource to support Defence families and communities.”

The four community organisations to receive FSFP grants in the Northern Territory are:

  • Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House
  • Network Tindal
  • Reeling Veterans
  • The Top Ender Tri-Services Magazine

During 2022-23, 48 community based organisations will receive FSFP grants to provide opportunities for Defence families to build connections within their local community and other Defence families.

The community grants are awarded to not-for-profit incorporated community organisations that deliver activities and services of value to Defence families.
