LABOR SUPPORTING BARRIO FIESTA IN THE NORTHERN TERRITORY

21 April 2025

Labor Member for Solomon Luke Gosling today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will support the Barrio Fiesta, a major annual celebration of Filipino culture in the Northern Territory.

This $20,000 election commitment will go towards the longstanding festival that brings together the Filipino Australian community from Darwin, Palmerston, and surrounding areas to celebrate culture, heritage, and unity. This festival gathers generations of Filipino Australians to share traditions, food and stories and connect through vibrant cultural performances and traditional games.

The Barrio Fiesta is a much-loved tradition in the Northern Territory and this year marks their 28th year, a testament to the community and the organisers that continue to bring people together.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Member for Solomon, Luke Gosling MP:

“The Barrio Fiesta is a home away from home for so many Filipino Australians, where generations come together to share stories, food, music, and traditions with the wider community.

“I am proud Labor is supporting the Barrio Fiesta, the festival is testament to the enduring Filipino spirit and strong community ties in Australia.”
