The Australian Government’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinics achieved an historic milestone in December 2024, reaching 1 million free visits across the country.
The Palmerston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic alone has serviced thousands and thousands of Territorians since it opened in late 2023.
And all bulk-billed.
We promised 50 Medicare UCCs across Australia, and we’ve delivered 87 (and counting).
The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, has announced three more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics for the NT - in Remote Northern Territory communities of Ali Curung (Barkly Region), Lajamanu (Big River Region) and Galiwin’ku (Elcho Island).
These new clinics will join the five existing clinics in the Northern Territory in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and Palmerston, Alyangula, Maningrida and Wurrumiyanga, which already provide an on-call service over weekends and over extended hours during the week.
