Housing

Having access to safe, secure housing is essential.  Building more affordable housing is also great for the economy. That's why a Federal Labor Government is committed to establish a $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund, which will provide thousands of homes for Australia’s most vulnerable and at-risk Australians, including our First Nations people and our veterans.

This policy will create over 20,000 construction jobs in its first five years, bringing both jobs and houses to Australians. We’ve committed $30 million to build more supportive and specialist housing for veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

$200 million will be spent on housing in Indigenous communities, many of them in the Territory to reduce overcrowding.  We’re also committed to building thousands of social housing properties, including housing for women and children experiencing domestic violence. Labor will also build affordable housing for the frontline workers of our pandemic, such as healthcare workers, cleaners, and police.
